In my salad days I often took my wee little brother a'ridin' on the Great American Scream Machine at Six Flags Over Georgia. The ride started with a slow, slow ascent up a huge incline (105 feet!) with the wooden tracks sounding their clack-clack, clack-clack until the top. For a moment everything seemed to stop before you plunged downward into the thrilling abyss. The Crimson Tide is at the top of their season. Louisville and Arkansas State were the clack-clack games. Now it is time for the real ride that we all dread and look forward to every year.
The SEC does not play. It's filled with sorry teams that will challenge Alabama's superior strength. There are challenging teams that are dreaming right now of beating the Tide and shutting up the fans. But Saban The Focused is here to guide the team through this daunting task. Again. Thank God.
Ole Miss is up first in Oxford. Back in Tuscaloosa it's Texas A&M followed by the Ragin' Cajuns. All three of these teams have and can give Alabama fits. But keep the faith, and believe the Tide will cruise into October unscathed. This should be some ride!
