Ole Miss III

Alabama aided in ending three long streaks tonight. Ole Miss had never beaten Alabama in back to back games. Ole Miss had not beaten Alabama since 1988 and Alabama had won 17 games in a row at home. Game, set and match to Ole Miss.

When is world going let up on the whole Saban defense thing. Face it the vaunted Saban defense of 2009-2012 no longer exists. In the world of trick football Saban’s teams simply cannot compete as they did in the world of conventional football.

That said the defense really wasn’t the issue here. The defense actually played fairly well. Five turnovers killed Alabama. Jake Coker took over the game and looked good at times but he threw two critical interceptions. One led to Ole Miss points and the other crushed the Tide’s chances for a comeback.

Sadly, this team will not win anymore games unless it gets better play from the quarterback. Fewer turnovers would also help. It’s a long season. Stuff happens but right now Alabama is not a playoff caliber team.
