July 11, 2010A Look Ahead Part IIThe time draws closer, though unfortunately as the time gets closer it just keeps getting hotter, what are ya going to do it’s July. Get over it. I mean a couple of weeks ago it was 97 in the UP of Michigan, which is the UP eh, which is pretty close to the north pole, well Canada anyway.I digress. The Tide and the Gators in a regular season match up. Doesn’t happen very often and until last year the prospect just plain filled me with dread. Times change, Man, do I like writing that. Woohoo, I mean there is a new sheriff in town and a new big dawg on the block. What sort of team will the Gators be when they come waltzing into T-town? They will have played Miami of Ohio, South Florida, UK and Tennessee, frankly we should know a lot. None of those teams are going to challenge for the national championship, but a couple of them, might challenge the mighty Gators. UK would love to knock them off, but, we all have those things we wish for, that aren’t ever going to happen. Urban Myer without Tebow, I just don’t know, now we get to see if he can coach. I just don’t think this is going to be the same kind of Gator team that we’re used to. I’m just not sure they can run with the big dog. Alabama 35 Florida 21 Well, now we begin to get into that fun run where all those SEC teams have an open date before playing the Tide. Steve Spurrier’s Gamecocks will have played Southern Miss, Georgia, Furman and Auburn before the Tide heads to the east coast to see if Steve Superior has finally found a quarterback. Think what you will, Auburn, Georgia and USM will challenge the Gamecocks, if they get through that four game stretch unscathed they are heading for a nice season. Bama will have just played Florida and this is one of those trap games that St. Nick simply does not believe in, stuff happens. I just don’t think any bad stuff is gonna happen in Columbia. Even if Garcia is the answer at quarterback, I just don’t thinks these guys have the horses to take down the Tide. I figure we come out slow get behind and then kick butt. Alabama 32 South Carolina 14 The schedule is beginning to get kind of deep at this point, this is game seven and the second SEC school fresh off an open date is rolling into Tuscaloosa looking for trouble. The good news is Ole Miss will get a peck of it. I just don’t think the Rebels are going to be in the same league as the Tide. This might be an early in the day game, you know the old Jefferson Pilot slot, if that still exists. Though, these guys sometimes give us a scare, it won’t happen this year. Bama is looking to make a statement and Houston Nutt could be in for a long year. Alabama 35 Ole Miss 3 Last year the Vols came darn close to spoiling Alabama’s perfect season. Everybody was expecting Lane Kiffin to fall on his face and that didn’t happen. This year everybody is ready to give Derek Dooley a pass. The stuff you read kind of makes it sound like this might be, what they used to call, a rebuilding year. Well, shoot, they get a by week before they play us and this is UT-Bama. Did you really think the game last year and I mean in your wildest dreams, would end up 12-10? Of course you did, we all did. Did you really think we would be totally unable to run the ball on them? Get real, I mean that’s as weird as me watching the game in Jersey City, which happened by the way. Hey we won. We’ll win this year and believe it or not the Tide will be seeking some revenge. This game will be closer than we want it to be. Alabama 21 Tennessee 10 Roll Tide Fox
